Controversy erupts over Modi govt’s ‘Agniveer Scheme’ for Indian army recruitment

Concerns have been raised over the impact of the Agniveer scheme introduced by the Modi govt on Indian Army recruitment. The scheme, aimed at increasing enlistment, has faced criticism from various quarters, including Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and opposition leader Rahul Gandhi.

Chief Minister Sukhu voiced apprehensions, stating that the scheme has undermined the enthusiasm of Indian youth towards joining the armed forces. He emphasized the declining spirit of national service among the younger generation.

Echoing similar sentiments, Rahul Gandhi criticized the scheme as being “pointless” and accused the Modi govt of prioritizing political interests over the welfare of the country’s youth.
