Lebanon’s Prime Minister Nawaf Salam called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to confirm Lebanon’s inclusion in the Iran-US ceasefire, following Israeli attacks that claimed over 200 lives.

The request underscores Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic engagement for regional stability.

Salam praised Pakistan’s mediation efforts and asked Sharif to “confirm that the ceasefire includes Lebanon to prevent a recurrence of the Israeli attacks witnessed yesterday.”

Israel and the US have stated that the current ceasefire does not cover Lebanon, with Israel asserting it would continue operations.

Iran’s parliamentary speaker warned that Tehran considers Lebanon an “inseparable part of the ceasefire” and hinted at “strong responses” if attacks continue.

International calls are mounting for Lebanon to be included in the truce, reflecting concern over escalating regional violence.

Pakistan’s role in promoting peace

During the telephone call, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned Israel’s ongoing aggression, expressing grief over the loss of thousands of lives.

Sharif reaffirmed that Pakistan is engaged in sincere efforts for regional peace, stressing that these talks between Iran and the US are crucial to preventing further escalation.

The Lebanese prime minister thanked Sharif for his efforts and sought Pakistan’s cooperation to immediately halt attacks targeting Lebanese civilians.

Both leaders agreed to maintain communication as diplomatic efforts continue.
