In a major move towards global security, the #UNGA has given the green light to four proposals presented by #Pakistan. These proposals, aimed at promoting peace and nuclear disarmament, received significant support from the international community.
Two of the resolutions, focused on “Regional Disarmament” and “Building Trust among Regions,” got a unanimous nod, showing everyone’s agreement to work together to prevent conflicts.
However, there was some opposition to the resolution on “Controlling Conventional Arms Regionally.” #India stood alone in opposing it, signaling the tricky geopolitics around this issue in #SouthAsia.
#Pakistan’s fourth proposal, targeting “Protecting Non-Nuclear States from Nuclear Threats,” was approved with a good majority of 123 votes in favor. This emphasizes the need for international plans to shield countries without nuclear weapons from such threats.
These resolutions stressed the importance of reducing nuclear weapons globally and maintaining a balance in countries’ defense capabilities to ensure peace without aggressive military expansions.
