Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar received a phone call from German Foreign Minister Dr. Johann Wadephul on Wednesday night, during which the two leaders reaffirmed their resolve to further strengthen mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation.
They also underlined the importance of continued high-level contacts and exchanged views on key regional issues.
Earlier this week, Ishaq Dar pledged to deepen Pakistan’s ties with Egypt and Algeria through wider cooperation and closer connectivity, following his meetings with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf on the sidelines of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) extraordinary session in Jeddah. Calling the talks a “meaningful interaction,” he said Pakistan was committed to enhancing brotherly relations with North African nations across diverse fields.
The three ministers also discussed the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, stressing the urgent need for a ceasefire, humanitarian access, and lasting peace. They highlighted the importance of Muslim unity in confronting Israel’s ongoing military campaign.
At the OIC session a day earlier, Dar condemned Israel’s “annexationist and rogue mindset,” warning that its plan to seize control of Gaza City posed a serious threat to regional stability. He outlined seven urgent steps for Muslim nations and the international community to help end the war and secure durable peace in Palestine.
Pakistan also endorsed a joint statement by 31 Arab-Islamic states and regional bodies denouncing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s remarks on “Greater Israel.”
During his two-day stay in Jeddah, Dar also met Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, expressing appreciation for Ankara’s leadership as OIC chair and reaffirming the Pakistan-Türkiye brotherhood. In addition, he held talks with senior diplomats from Saudi Arabia, Iran, Malaysia, and Bangladesh.
