Scrutiny on Modi governance as India’s economic reality is exposed

A recent expose by Al Jazeera has cast doubt on the Indian govt’s claim of being one of the world’s fastest-growing economies. The report reveals that India’s economic situation has worsened post-COVID due to poor policies implemented by the Modi administration.

Alarming statistics indicate that over 80% of the population is grappling with economic hardships, with the elite 1% controlling over 40% of the country’s resources.

The survey found that a staggering 34.4 million people in India are living below the poverty line, contradicting the govt’s claims of poverty alleviation efforts.

Critics accuse the Modi govt of manipulating poverty definitions and statistics to create an illusion of progress, particularly during election seasons, through initiatives labeled as “New Welfareism.”
