Security deteriorates in Manipur as violence escalates

The security situation in Manipur has worsened significantly, with a surge in violence reported in the first week of September. Drone attacks in rural areas have resulted in the destruction of five homes, leading to the reimposition of curfew in the Imphal Valley.

Following the drone strikes, separatist groups launched rocket attacks in Manipur’s Bishnupur district, damaging several buildings and forcing security forces to retreat. These incidents have further strained the already tense atmosphere in the region.

The escalating conflict has severely disrupted daily life in Manipur. Markets, shops, and hospitals have closed, while the curfew has caused significant distress among residents. Reports suggest that the state’s connection with the rest of India has been severed, and internet services have been completely shut down.
