UN report reveals ethnic conflicts in Afghanistan under Taliban rule
The United Nations has released a report highlighting the rise of ethnic conflicts in Afghanistan since the Taliban took power. According to the report, the Taliban has carried out retaliatory actions against the Hazara community, resulting in significant displacement and humanitarian concerns.
In Balkhab, ongoing conflicts since June 23, 2022, have displaced approximately 27,000 people. The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reports that over 10,000 individuals in Balkhab lack access to basic necessities and food.
The province of Bamyan has also experienced ethnic tensions, with more than 6,000 people displaced. Affected individuals across Afghanistan face food and healthcare shortages, as well as psychological distress.
