Expulsion of senior RAW officers
– Two senior #Indian Research and Analysis Wing officers were expelled from their stations in major Western cities, including #SanFrancisco and #London.
– This expulsion, along with the blocking of RAW’s station head replacement in #Washington, DC, was prompted by impending criminal charges against the spy agency for its alleged involvement in an assassination campaign against pro-Khalistan activists.
– The move was part of a series of actions expressing displeasure over perceived violations of unwritten conventions governing RAW’s operations in the #UnitedStates, #Canada, and the #UnitedKingdom.
– The expelled officers held key positions, with one heading the RAW station in San Francisco and the other serving as the second-in-command for operations in London. – The officers, belonging to the Tamil Nadu and Telangana cadre of the Indian Police Service (IPS), faced these consequences.
– The Government of #India was denied permission to replace RAW’s station chief in Washington, DC. – The closures of RAW’s stations in San Francisco and Washington DC, along with the expulsion of its station chief in Ottawa, have left the organization without representation in North America for the first time since its inception.
