Indian Connection with ISKP and TTP
– Reports from 2014 indicate a secret visit by Ajit Doval, the Indian National Security Advisor to Modi, with a mission to establish connections with top leaders of both the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
– The objective? To leverage these groups against Pakistan. The coordination hub for this clandestine operation was the Indian Consulate in Kandahar.
– Fast forward to 2020, a United Nations report on terrorism brought to light “significant numbers” of ISIS and ISKP terrorists operating in two Indian states, namely Kerala and Karnataka.
– Adding a more alarming layer to this, the report suggested that Abdur Rehman Al Logari, an ISIS terrorist responsible for the 2021 attack on Kabul airport resulting in the deaths of 170 individuals, including 13 US Marines, had purported connections with New Delhi. – This revelation raises profound questions about the nature of India’s involvement with these extremist groups and the potential implications for regional security.
