Adviser to the Balochistan Chief Minister on Women Development Dr Rubaba Khan Buledi has hailed Pakistan’s hosting of the 9th Ministerial Conference on Women of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and its assumption of the conference presidency for the next two years as a significant diplomatic accomplishment that will strengthen the country’s role in promoting women’s empowerment across the Muslim world. In a statement issued on Sunday, Dr Buledi said the participation of representatives from the OIC’s 57 member states demonstrated the collective resolve of the Islamic world to advance women’s welfare, expand equal opportunities and promote inclusive socio-economic development. She said the conference would deliberate on key issues affecting women, including education, healthcare, economic empowerment and increased participation in decision-making, while encouraging closer cooperation and coordination among member countries. Dr Buledi noted that the transfer of the conference presidency from Egypt to Pakistan marked an important milestone, enabling the country to play a leading role in advancing the OIC’s agenda on women’s development over the next two years. She expressed confidence that the Islamabad Declaration would serve as a roadmap for enhanced collaboration among member states and help formulate joint strategies aimed at improving the status and opportunities of women throughout the Islamic world. The adviser said Pakistan would also use the international forum to highlight its initiatives and achievements in women’s development, creating new avenues for the exchange of knowledge, experiences and best practices among OIC member countries. She commended the federal government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and all institutions involved in successfully organizing the high-level conference, describing the event as an important platform for strengthening Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement with the Muslim world. Highlighting provincial efforts, Dr Buledi said the Government of Balochistan is implementing a range of initiatives to improve women’s access to education, enhance economic opportunities, expand social protection and encourage greater participation in public affairs and decision-making. She expressed optimism that the outcomes of the conference would contribute to more effective policymaking for women’s development in Balochistan while further enhancing Pakistan’s positive image and constructive role at the international level.
