The Court of First Instance of Qatar has awarded a death sentence to the eight Indian Navy officers whom the Qatari intelligence service had arrested in Doha last year on charges of espionage.

The names of Indian Navy officers are:

Captain Birendra Kumar Verma

Captain Saurabh Vashishtha

Commander Amit Nagpal

Commander Purnendu Tiwari

Commander Sugunakar Pakala

Commander Sanjeev Gupta

Sailor Ragesh The accused have been identified as working for the Indian intelligence agency, RAW. They were reportedly caught carrying out espionage activities in Qatar. According to the country’s investigative agency, these officials provided Israel details of Qatar’s secret programme to buy advanced submarines from Italy.
