Dawn has published an article today. Here are the comments of Markhor
Dawn’s Editorial Board (DEB) and Pervez Hoodbhoy (PH) don’t seem to understand the difference between Refugees & Illegal Immigrants. Illegal Immigrants are NOT Refugees. Do you hear me?
No! 1.7 Million have not been herded like cattle. Only 327,000 have crossed over in approximately 2 months. This makes about 5,000 people crossing over from all the crossing points, per day. This is NOT herding: it is very slow repartition. DEB and PH may know that 15-20 thousand people cross over on any normal day.
No! Afghan “refugees” will not be “expelled”. Actually, at an appropriate time, they will be repatriated with dignity & honor. Don’t publish what has not been said (Dawn’s link refers to another article of Dawn to make the “expel” point). What a journalism!
No! The hell doesn’t await them when they cross over to Afghanistan! They are going back home. There are approximately 45 Million+ people living in Afghanistan. Do they live in hell?
You also call the regime in Afghanistan as primitive, murderous, misogynist etc. Are you suggesting that we bring those 45 Million living in Afghanistan to Pakistan? Or they are sons of lesser god? Where is your moral compass?
No! They have just not been asked to go back over night. Pakistan offered multiple opportunities to them and requested them to register. They didn’t. State of Pakistan is not at fault here. They, the illegal immigrants, are.
PH uses following sentences / phrases in the article: 1) HERDED like cattle, over 1,700,000 Muslim refugees, more than twice the number of Palestinians evicted in 1948 by Zionist Israel. 2) Who could be more heartless? Zionists? A newspaper that prides itself to have been founded by Quaid e Azam allows (or encourages) such rubbish to be published! Comparing very fair state policies with those of Zionists? Really?
No! Pakistan has not given them 30 days to sell the properties they acquired over life-time! One that illegal immigrants are NOT allowed to have any properties! This is international legal norm. This is law of our land. So, they have to sell? Two, few / many of them came here after August 2021. They have been here for 2 years ONLY, NOT a lifetime! Which school did you go to?
No! you are wrong! There is no such order that imposes the limit of Rs 50,000 on cash to be carried back to Afghanistan (actually the use of PKR is being discouraged in Afghanistan: so, they don’t need to carry PKR). However, DEB & PH may like to know that permissible limit to take out Pakistani currency (as per FERA: Foreign Exchange Regulation Act) is only Rs 10,000 per person. Nevertheless, neither this order has been issued, nor we have the capability to enforce such order on Pakistan Afghan Border (do you think the trucks & the luggage can be searched for few tens of thousands of PKR / dollars?). Don’t take your “facts” from WhatsApp. Furthermore, cross border move of cattle is banned by the order of GoP (this is called negative list my sirs!)
No! There is no extortion by the body-guards of Pakistan. Hearsay is not journalism!
No! the limb chopping & stoning to death are not the routine in Afghanistan! The last such incident occurred in 2020 (Go check the archives!). And, please remember these punishments are prescribed in Holy Quraan. Markhor may not want to comment on this any further, but this disrespectful assertion doesn’t seem to be an omission.
Last, but not the least, it is Pakistan Afghanistan Border (NOT repeated NOT the Durand Line).
